Joined the 164th Regt., U. S. Army, Apr. 22, 1941. He saw service at Louisiana, Australia, New Caledonia, Fiji Islands, Guadalcanal, Bougainville and the Philippine Islands. He lost his life Feb. 28, 1945, during heavy action on Leyte.

He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 3 campaign stars, Pre-Pearl Harbor and the Philippine Liberation ribbons.
