Biography:

Dale Duane Crow was born on a farm southwest of White Butte, South Dakota on 17 December 1932 to Hiram Abraham and Elizabeth Mary (Janish) Crow. Dale had three brothers, John, Robert, and Darrell, and two sisters, Elaine and Ellen. Dale grew up near Lemmon, SD, and went to elementary school there. He attended Northwestern Lutheran Academy at Mobridge, SD, during 1941 and 1942.

He entered the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, KS, on 23 March 1950, along with his three cousins, David, Richard, and Eugene Crow. After boot camp and a furlough home, they left for Korea on 5 August 1950 and arrived in Korea on 23 August 1950. PVT Crow was a member of Company G, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.

It was during this battle, on this same hill, that his cousin, PVT David Franklin Crow, also lost his life. In fact, they shared a foxhole.
