Not a registrant, under age. Born, Twin Brooks, S. Dak., Jan. 1, 1897, of German parents. Occupation - barber. Enlisted in Company D, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Minot, on July 10, 1917. Called into federal service, World War, on July 15, 1917. Served in Company D, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard (Company D, 164th Infantry), to Jan. 9, 1918; Company I, 18th Infantry, to death. Overseas from Dec. 14, 1917, to death. Engagements: Defensive Sectors: Ansauville (Lorraine); Cantigny (Picardy).
