Biography:

Francis Irwin was born in Elbowoods, McLean County, North Dakota on September 9, 1917, to Joseph "Joe" Irwin Sr. and Laura C "Two Crows or Wi-a-i-ho-ta-ki" Irwin. He entered the United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on January 1, 1943. Private First Class Irwin served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was killed in action on May 13, 1945, in Luzon, Philippines. He is buried in Row 7, Grave 158, Lucky Mound Memorial Congregation Church Cemetery, Parshall Elbowoods, North Dakota. 

Francis was married to Flora BlackTail Wells. They had one daughter, Carol A. Welch.
