Not a registrant, under age. Born, Hokah, Minn., Jan., 1898, of (nationality of parents not given). Occupation - unknown. Enlisted in Company E, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Williston, on July 16, 1917. Served in Company E, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard (Company E, 164th Infantry), to Jan. 18, 1918; Company M, 26th Infantry, to death. Grades: Corporal, March 20, 1918; Sergeant, Aug. 12, 1918. Overseas from Dec. 15, 1917, to death. Engagements: Defensive: Montdidier-Noyon. Offensives: Aisne-Marne; St. Mihiel. Defensive Sectors: Ansauville (Lorraine); Cantigny (Picardy). Cited in General Orders No. 2, Headquarters, 2nd Brigade, France, Aug. 2, 1918, for conspicuous gallantry in action during the operations, July 18 to 23, 1918, near Soissons, while he was on patrol duty, brought back valuable information through our own barrage, July 20, 1918, east of Ploisy.
