Biography:

George Schaff was born in Mineral Springs, Slope County, North Dakota on June 7, 1915, to Joseph Schaff and Anna Mary Zent. He entered AUS Ft Snelling, Minnesota on July 23, 1942, and served as Private First Class in the European African Middle Eastern Theater, Company K, 23rd Infantry Regiment, A/S Infantry. Private First Class Schaff died in service on January 20, 1945, in Belgium, and is buried in Saint Charles Catholic Cemetery, Bowman, Bowman County, North Dakota. He received the Purple Heart.
