Circumstances:

On 6 February 1968, Corporal Gregory Howard Lunde was serving with 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam. On that day, Cpl Lunde was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire.

Biography:

Greg was the son of Howard and Evelyn Lunde. He had one sister, Antoinette. He attended schools at Rugby and Landa and graduated from Westhope High School in 1964. After high school, Greg attended Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis and worked for the railroad for a short time. In 1966 he returned to Westhope to work with his father in a meat processing plant before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is buried in Westhope Cemetery, Westhope, ND.
