Biography:

Gunder Peter Richotte Gunderson was serving his country during the Vietnam War, and he gave his all in the line of duty.  He enlisted in the United States Army and entered the service via Regular Military. His tour began on August 18, 1965. Gunderson had the rank of Sergeant, and his military occupation or specialty was Infantry Indirect Fire Crewman. Service number assignment was 17546841, attached to 1st Cavalry Division, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry, D Company. 

Sgt. Gunderson was born on July 25, 1941, and home was Walhalla, Pembina County, North Dakota. During his service in the Vietnam War, Sgt. Gunderson experienced a traumatic event which ultimately resulted in loss of life on November 23, 1965. He received the purple heart. He is buried at Saint Boniface Cemetery, Walhalla, North Dakota. He is honored on the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington, DC. His name is inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 03e, Line 111.
