Biography:

Harley Sanford Hill was born in Wheelock, Williams County, North Dakota on February 7, 1920, to Arthur Monroe Hill and Thea Eline Swenson. He entered the United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on February 7, 1942, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Staff Sergeant Hill was killed in action on May 13, 1945, in Bancal, Mindanao, Philippines and is buried in Rainbow Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wildrose, Williams County, North Dakota, northwest of Ray, North Dakota.
