Circumstances:

Staff Sergeant Lapp was killed in action in Pleiku, South Vietnam from hostile small arms fire. 

Biography:

Herb was from Hebron. He was born February 1, 1923.

He was 43 years old when he died on July 3, 1966. 

He had seven brothers and eight sisters. Herb's sister, Betty, remembers him as someone with a great sense of humor, and that he was easy to get along with. 

Herb entered the Army as a young man and served in World War II prior to serving in Vietnam. Five of his brothers served their country in the military, and Herb's younger brother, Edwin, was killed in action in the Korean War. 

Herb was then killed, early in the Vietnam War, when he was shot in the stomach. 

In addition to his mother and siblings, Herb was survived by his wife, Juanita; daughter, Diana; and son, Marcus. 

He is buried in Section L in Grangeville Cemetery - Armona, California.
