Biography:

John Melvin Spencer was born Monroe, Amherst County, Virginia on November 24, 1925, to Charles Melvin Spencer and Eva Susie Weeks Spencer. He was a resident of Sheridan, Mercer County, North Dakota when he entered the United State Army, Fort Snelling, Minnesota on March 30, 1944.  He served European African Middle Eastern Theater in Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands. Private First Class Spencer was killed in action on February 24, 1945, in Germany. He is buried in Block 24, Section C, Grave 13692, Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
