Circumstances:

Staff Sergeant Joseph Jacobson was Killed in Action on 9 March 1944 while serving as Waist Gunner on B-17 aircraft #42-37781 (Silver Dollar) when the aircraft was struck by bombs dropped by another B-17 on a bombing mission to Berlin, Germany. The tail of Jacobson's ship was sheared off by the falling bombs and it went into a dive and crashed
