Circumstances:

On September 17, 1967, SGM Zietlow of I Field Force and a SSG Wright from the 124th Transportation Command were mortally wounded in a terrorist attack in a Noncommissioned Officer's Club in Nha Trang, Vietnam. SGM Laurence C. Zietlow and SSG William A. Wright sustained multiple fragmentation wounds when a Viet Cong mine exploded inside the Neptune NCO Club. Both men survived the blast. SSG William Wright succumbed to his injuries three days later, and SGM Laurence Zietlow died on October 3, 1967.

Biography:

Lawrence Zietlow was born on August 30, 1928, in Center, Oliver County, ND. He is buried in Graceland Cemetery - New Salem, North Dakota.
