Biography:

Louis Fred Kriedmann was born in Balfour, McHenry County, North Dakota on August 17, 1919, to Fred W. and Martha Kriedemann.  He entered The United States Army AUS Fort Snelling, Minnesota on July 29, 1942, and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. On December 18, 1944, the Bismarck Tribune reported the war department announced the previous Monday the names of 2,080 United States soldiers that were wounded in action in the European Mediterranean, Central Pacific, South Pacific and Southwest Pacific areas. Seven were from North Dakota including Private First Class Kriedemann. Private First Class Kriedemann was killed in action on January 15, 1945, in Belgium and is buried in Plot 25, Row 3, Balfour Cemetery, Balfour, North Dakota.
