Circumstances:

On December 19, while crossing a rice paddy in the vicinity of Dong Tien in an area of Dien Ban District in Quang Nam Province known as "Dodge City" a patrol of Marines were hit with enemy sniper fire followed by a automatic weapons fire and volleys of grenades. The superior force of Viet Cong overran the Marines killing three of the men, took their weapons, equipment and fled by the time a reaction force of Marines arrived on the scene.

Biography:

Murray was the son of Vincent Victor Vidler and Gemmell Vidler, the brother of Lorne Vidler all of Regina SK. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps on May 1, 1967 in Minneapolis MN with his home of record designated as Fargo ND.

Murray arrived in Vietnam on October 10, and was assigned for duty with Company M, 3d Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

He is buried in Block 66B, Plot 14, Lot A in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery - Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
