Biography:

Robert James Odegaard was born in Kindred, Cass County, North Dakota on April 16, 1921 to Ingvald Simensen Odegaard and Lottie Hansine Johanson Odegaard.  He entered the United States Navy in San Francisco, California on July 3, 1942, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Petty Officer Odegaard was hospitalized after becoming ill on a ship leaving Oakland, California, carrying occupation troops to Japan and died in service on August 9, 1946. He is buried in St John's Cemetery, Horace, Cass County, North Dakota.
