Biography:

Roman Veed Janousek was born on June 15, 1916, in Walsh County, North Dakota. He was the son of Peter Paul Janousek and Josephine Stejskal Janousek.

Pfc Janousek was assigned as Cannoneer (Military Occupation Specialty 531) in Company Battalion HQ, 40th Tank Division, 7th Armored Division during World War II. He was wounded in the vicinity of Ospel, Netherlands, and died in France. He was buried in Belgium, and after the war, his body was returned and interred at Saint Lukes Cemetery, Veseleyville, Walsh County, North Dakota.
