Ronald Dale Bond

Major Ronald Dale Bond, who joined the U.S. Air Force from North Dakota, was a member of the 604th Air Commando Squadron. On March 11, 1968, Maj Bond piloted a single-seat A-37A Dragonfly (tail number 67-14506) on a close air support mission southeast of Bien Hoa air base, South Vietnam. During a strafing attack, his aircraft crashed and exploded in the vicinity of (GC) YS 473 533. Major Bond did not parachute from the aircraft before it went down, and witnesses to the incident reported that the pilot could not have survived the crash. Searches of the area could not locate Maj Bond’s remains. Today, Major Bond is memorialized on the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
