Biography:
Not a registrant, enlisted prior. Born, Washburn, N. Dak., April 15, 1896, of Swedish parents. Occupation - student. Enrolled in the Officers Training Camp at Camp Funston, Kans., on April 20, 1917. Called into active service as a 2nd Lieutenant, on Aug. 15, 1917. Assigned to Company D, 356th Infantry, to death. Promoted: 1st Lieutenant, Sept. 13, 1918. Overseas from June 4, 1918, to death. Engagements: Offensives: Meuse-Argonne; St. Mihiel. Defensive Sectors: Lucey and Euvezin (Lorraine). Principal stations: Camp Funston, Kans.; Camp Mills, N. Y.; AEF.
