Biography:

Wallace J Gillespie was born in Dundee, Walsh County, North Dakota on August 30, 1920, to James Robertson Gillespie and Mary Duffy. He entered the United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on June 20, 1944, and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. Private First Class Gillespie was killed in action on March 30, 1945, in Germany; buried in Grave 9058, Block 9, Section C, Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
