Biography:

Wayne Mercel Lybeck was born in Jessie, Griggs County, North Dakota on March 19, 1919, to Olai Christian Lybeck and Ruth Groven Lybeck. He later became a resident of Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota. He entered the United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on March 29, 1942, and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. First Sergeant Lybeck was killed in action on January 11, 1945, in Luxembourg, Germany and is buried in Grave 391- N, Section B-1, Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
