The Fargo VA Medical Center will hold a Salute to Veterans Week, Feb. 14- 20.
The nationally recognized week will be chocked full of activities and events at the Fargo VA
honoring the service of Veterans. During the week, the Fargo VA will welcome the Military Order of the Cootie, Miss, Mrs., and Miss Teen North Dakota, some musically talented Kennedy Elementary 3rd graders, the Fargo South High School Jazz Band, and many other volunteers and guests. “National Salute to Veterans week is all about paying tribute and expressing appreciation to our Veterans,” said Karinn Davidson, Fargo VA Health Care System Chief of Voluntary Service. “The week will feature a host of Veterans groups, service members, civic organizations, and volunteers all teaming up to celebrate and say thank you to our Veterans.”The week also provides an opportunity for the community to become acquainted with the volunteer opportunities within the Fargo VA HCS. All events are free and most are open to all Veterans and their families.
Members of the media interested in attending any event should call the Fargo VA HCS Public Affairs office at (701) 239-3724 or email Ross.Tweten@va.gov. A great opportunity for media participation is the Miss North Dakota and Miss Teen North Dakota visit at 10 a.m., followed by the Sweetheart Dinner at 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 19. On this day, Miss and Miss Teen North Dakota will visit with patients at the medical center. Then Veteran patients in the Community Living Center can invite a sweetheart of their choice to some fine dining and a musical performance courtesy of the Fargo South High School Jazz Band.
