Kenneth Jene Hasby, 73, New Town, died Friday, January 21, 2022, at the Fargo VA Hospital.

Ken joined the Navy  March 17, 1967. He served in the brown waters of Vietnam from April 1969-January 1971 as an American advisor to the Vietnamese Navy with the Naval Advisor Group Team 113. He was honorably discharged January 13, 1971.

Ken was an active veterans advocate serving in the American Legion (52 years), VVA (46 years), VFW (46 years), DAV and SAL, IWVA, AMVETS, and as a volunteer driver bringing veterans from Newtown to the Fargo VA Medical Center. He served his community for 20 years as a volunteer fire fighter, 8 years as city police commissioner, and 4 years as water commissioner and chaired his towns Special Assessment Committee.

He was nominated by DAV and appointed by Governor John Hoeven to serve on the Administrative Committee On Veterans Affairs (ACOVA). He served from July, 1 2008  to June 2014. He was nominated by the American Legion and appointed by Governor Dalrymple to the ACOVA in July 2014 and served until June 2017. While on the ACOVA he served on the Appeals, Budget, Department of Veterans Affairs, Legislative, and Post War Trust Fund committees. He also chaired the Budget committee.

Kenneth Jene Hasby, 73, New Town, died Friday, January 21, 2022, at Fargo VA Hospital.

Funeral: Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, New Town

Visitation: Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Langhans Funeral Home, Parshall with a Rosary at 7 p.m.

Interment: Friday at 11 a.m. at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan
