Not a registrant, enlisted prior. Born, Bowden, England, Oct. 6, 1860. Naturalized citizen. Occupation - US postal Department. Enlisted in Company B, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Fargo, on June 14, 1885. Grades: Sergeant, Aug. 15, 1887; 1st Sergeant, June, 1888. Discharged as 1st Sergeant, July 15, 1888; re-enlisted, July 15, 1888. Commissioned Captain, Dec. 28, 1892. Resigned as Captain, of Company B, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, on Jan. 24, 1895. Re-enlisted in Company B, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, on April 30, 1898, for the Spanish-American War. Discharged as Regimental Sergeant Major, on May 22, 1899. Re-enlisted on Dec. 7, 1899. Grades: Corporal, Feb. 1, 1900; Sergeant, Oct. 22, 1900; commissioned Captain, Feb. 28, 1901; Major, July 5, 1911; Lieutenant Colonel, March 31, 1915. Detailed to Mobilization Camp, San Antonia, Texas, April 1, to April 8, 1911. Attached to 28th US Infantry for instruction purposes. Called into federal service on June 19, 1916, as a Lieutenant Colonel, for Mexican border duty, and served there until discharge. Discharged from federal service at Fort Snelling, Minn., on Feb. 14, 1917, and resumed National Guard status. Called into federal service, World War, on July 15, 1917. Assigned to Field and Staff, 164th Infantry, to Oct. 2, 1918. Army Service School, to death. Overseas from Dec. 15, 1917, to death.
