Registered McHenry county. Born, Brownsdale, Minn., May 25, 1892, of German-American parents. Occupation - telegraph operator. Inducted at Towner on Sept. 18, 1917. Sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa. Served in Battery A, 338th Field Artillery, to April 1, 1918; Battery B, 321st Field Artillery, to death. Grade: Private 1st Class, Jan. 15, 1918. Overseas from May 19, 1918, to death. Engagements: Offensives: St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne. Defensive Sector: Marbache (Lorraine).
