Circumstances:

Walking towards their destination north of Da Hoa hamlet in Dien Ban District Sgt Triske, the squad leader stepped on a buried pressure switch that detonated a 20 lb. enemy box mine that was planted beside the road. The explosion created a large crater killing the Marine instantly and wounded two other men.

Biography:

Richard, the son of Frank E. Triske and Shirley L. Triske, enlisted in the US Marine Corps on February 2, 1966 in Minneapolis MN. He arrived in Vietnam on January 29, 1968, and was assigned to Company I, 3d Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.
