Biography:

Robert Edwin Swanson served his country during the Vietnam War when he gave his all in the line of duty. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on January 11, 1965. Swanson had the rank of Private First Class. His military occupation or specialty was Rifleman. Service number assignment was 2110286, attached to M Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. 

He was born on November 27, 1946, and home was Grand Forks, Grand Forks County, North Dakota. During his service in the Vietnam War, Marine Corps Swanson experienced a traumatic event which ultimately resulted in loss of life on October 26, 1965, in Quang Nam Provience, South Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart. He is honored on the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington, DC. Name is inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 2e, Line 136. He is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, North Dakota.
