Biography:

Alphonse Anthony Wilkes was born in Dickey, LaMoure County, North Dakota on September 28, 1918, to Francis Xavier Wilkes and Elizabeth Frances Anna Wilkes. He registered for the United States Army on October 16, 1940. Private Wilkes was killed in action and is buried at Manila American Cemetery, Fort William McKinley, National Capital Region, Philippines and Assumption Cemetery, Dickey, LaMoure County, North Dakota.
