Biography:

From the Icelandic Canadian Newspaper:

Born at Gardar, Pembina County, North Dakota January 29 1919. Joined the U.S. Air Force July 1942. Served in several parts of the U.S. before embarking overseas. He was killed on his first mission over enemy territory, June 11, 1943. He was awarded the Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart. Son of Skarpheoinn (Jonsson) and Kristin Snydal, Gardar, North Dakota.

SNYDAL, LARUS T. SN 37 291 823; born Gardar, NDak 29 Jan 19; resident Pembina County, NDak; entered AUS Ft Snelling, Minn 30 Jul 42; served European African Middle Eastern Theater; KIA 11 Jun 43 Germany; SSG; remains not recovered.

Memorialized at Cambridge American Cemetery. Received Purple Heart and Air Medal awards.
