MINTZ, JOHN SN 37 272 320; born Monango, NDak 5 Dec 15; resident Dickey County, NDak; entered AUS Ft Snelling, Minn 30 Mar 42; served European African Middle Eastern Theater; died in service 2 Apr 44 Plymouth, England; PFC; buried in Plot A, Row 1, Grave 35, Cambridge, England.

John Mintz, son of Gottlieb Jr. and Christina (Gebhardt) Mintz was born December 9, 1915 in Hamburg Township, Monango, ND.  At the age of 18 he served in the C.C.C., then farmed for six years. World War II was declared
in 1941 and John entered the service on March 30, 1942 serving in the U.S. Army Tank Corp. He trained at Fort Lewis, Washington and served from October 1943 to April 2, 1944 overseas in England. He obtained the rank of PFC and died in an accidental drowning near Plymouth, England at the age of 29. John Mintz's final resting place is at Cambridge American Cemetery in England.
