Registered Walsh county. Born, Lankin, N. Dak., Nov. 14, 1895, of Bohemian parents. Occupation - farmer. Inducted at Grafton on March 30, 1918. Sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa. Served in 2nd Company, 163rd Depot Brigade, to April 20, 1918; Company I, 139th Infantry, to death. Overseas from May 3, 1918, to death. Wounded, gassed, Oct. 6, 1918. Engagements: Offensive: Meuse-Argonne. Defensive Sectors; Gerardmer (Alsace); Grange-le-Comte (Lorraine).
