Registered McHenry county. Born, Oskaloosa, Kans., Aug. 7, 1890, of American parents. Occupation - farmer. Inducted at Towner on May 9, 1918. Sent to Camp Fremont, Calif. Served in Supply Company, 13th Infantry, to discharge. Grades: Corporal, Oct. 14, 1918; Sergeant, Dec. 1, 1918. Discharged at Camp Fremont, Calif., on March 1, 1919, as a Sergeant.
