Registered LaMoure county. Born, Royalton, Minn., Feb. 9, 1894, of (nationality of parents not given). Occupation - laborer. Enlisted in Company D, 1st Infantry, Minnesota National Guard, at Minneapolis, Minn., on June 23, 1917. Called into federal service, World War, on July 15, 1917. Served in Company D, Recruit Detachment No. 6, 1st Infantry, Minnesota National Guard, to Aug. 27, 1917; Headquarters, Minneapolis Patrol District, to Sept. 19, 1917; Company D, 1st Infantry, Minnesota National Guard (Company D, 135th Infantry), to Nov. 8, 1917; Supply Company, 135th Infantry, to Jan. 12, 1918; Headquarters, Company I, 135th Infantry, to July 21, 1918; Company No. 11, 1st Infantry Training Regiment, 1st Depot Division, to July 23, 1918; Company H, 58th Infantry, to death. Grades: Wagoner, Dec. 8, 1917; Private, Jan. 12, 1918. Overseas from June 28, 1918, to death. Engagements: Offensives: Aisne-Marne; St. Mihiel. Defensive Sectors: Vesle (Champagne); Toulon (Lorraine).
