Not a registrant, enlisted prior. Born, Larimore, N. Dak., Oct. 25, 1898, of American-German parents. Occupation - student. Enlisted at Fargo on Dec. 1, 1916. Sent to Jefferson Barracks, Mo. Served in Company H, 4th Infantry, to June 8, 1917; Company H, 59th Infantry, to Aug. 10, 1917; Company H, 18th Infantry, to death. Grades: Private 1st Class, May 19, 1917; Corporal, Aug. 19, 1918. Overseas from Oct. 31, 1917, to death. Wounded, gassed, May 3, 1918. Engagements: Offensives: Aisne-Marne; St. Mihiel. Defensive: Montdidier-Noyon. Defensive Sectors: Ansauville and Saizerais (Lorraine); Cantigny (Picardy).
