Biography:
David Johnson graduated from high school in 1969 and enlisted in the United States Army on June 30, 1969, and left on tour November 11, 1969. He was a Veteran of several front-line actions and was wounded while on a mission with the 5th Infantry Regiment of the 25th Division on May 12, 1970, while serving in Cambodia. Five days later, May 17, 1970, in a hospital in Long Binh, Vietnam, he died. He is buried at the Holy Cross Cemetery, in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota.

Sergeant Johnson received a third Purple Heart, a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Clusters for heroism and valor, the Silver Star Medal for Gallantry, and he is honored on the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington, DC, name inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 10w, Line 57.
