Biography:

Richard Allen Buringrud was drafted into the United State Army via the Selective Service on November 4, 1968, and he began his tour on May 6, 1969. He had the rank of Private First Class, and his military occupation or specialty was Light Weapons Infantry. He was attached to the 1st Cavalry Division, 2nd Battalion, 12 Cavalry, A Company.

Richard Buringrud was born on November 24, 1946, in Argusville, Cass County, North Dakota, to Einar and Marion Olien Buringrud. 

Private First Class Buringrud experienced a traumatic event and lost his life on June 9, 1969. He is buried at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota. He received the Purple Heart and is honored on the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington, DC, name inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 23w, Line 117.
