From DPAA:

On March 23, 1975, the Central Identification Laboratory–Thailand (CILT, now DPAA) identified the remains of Steven Andrew Haukness, missing from the Vietnam War.

Mr. Haukness was a civilian from North Dakota and was employed with the U.S. Department of State as a foreign service communicator stationed at the consulate general in Da Nang, Vietnam. On January 31, 1968, he was personal leave in Hue during the Tet holiday, when the city came under attack by North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong forces. Mr. Haukness was killed during the attack, though the detailed circumstances surrounding his death are unknown, and his body was not recovered at the time. Between 1973 and 1975, search teams recovered human remains from a gravesite correlating to his loss, and these remains were later identified by U.S. analysts as those of Mr. Haukness.
