Private Clifton Brickson was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on February 29, 1920, to Mr. and Mrs. Bernt Brickson. On January 12, 1942 he was married to Miss Phyllis Olson of Grand Forks, N.D. He entered the service on April 3, 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Roberts, Cal. The first part of July in 1942 he was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash; from there he was sent to Alaska and took part in the battle of Attu. In May 1943, he returned to the United States and was stationed at Camp Hale, Colo, where he was in the Norwegian battalion. The first part of September he was sent to England and was one of the first invasion troops which landed in France in June 1944. He was in the infantry with the First Army. A telegram stated that he was killed in action in Belgium, September 14. He is Buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
Mrs. Clifton Brickson, Grand Forks, ND, was presented a flag by the American Legion.
He is survived by his parents, wife, 7 months old son, four sisters, Mrs. Shannon Cruzan (Beatrice), Opportunity, Wash; Mrs. Archie Nelson (Margaret), Vivian and Agnes of Detroit Lakes, three brothers, Ernest, Grand Forks; Arvide, Detroit Lakes and Kermit in England in the service.
