Biography:

Corporal Herman Diede was born in Antelope, North Dakota on March 14, 1920, and attended the rural school in his home community and graduated from Hebron High School in 1938. He attended the Dickinson State Teachers College in 1939 and joined Company K of the National Guard. In 1941 he left with Company K for Camp Claiborne, La., and went overseas to New Caledonia and was last heard from on Guadalcanal.  He is buried in Plot C, Grave 1611 in the National Memorial of the Pacific, Hawaii.
