Biography:

Ira Lauson Walla was born in Arnegard, McKenzie County, North Dakota on April 15, 1924, to Ira L and Anna M Walla. He became a resident of Cass County, North Dakota and entered the United States Army in Fargo, North Dakota on April 6, 1943. Private First Class Walla served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was killed in action on April 28, 1945, in Okinawa, Japan and he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He is buried in Block 3, Section C, Grave 7893, Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
