Robert B. Holmes
Biography:
Captain Robert B. Holmes was born on December 5, 1920 in Chamberlain, SD and was from North Dakota when he entered the Army. On April 16, 1945, Captain Holmes flying a P-51 (44-63214) of the 82nd Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group “Duxford Eagles” 8th Air Force out of USAAF Station F-357 (Duxford) was flying a mission to strafe enemy airfields in the present-day Czech Republic. After strafing two airfields heading towards the third, his plane was hit by flak, and he crashed and was killed near Prague.

Peter J. Hoffmann
Biography:
Peter John Hoffmann was born Mandan, Morton County, North Dakota on August 18, 1919, to Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Hoffmann. He entered ASS Mandan, North Dakota on April 1, 1941, and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. A letter from the war department stated he participated in the invasion of northern France and that he was last seen on the beach near St. Laurent Sur-Mer, which was being subjected to enemy machine gun and rifle fire.

Rueben E. Hoff
Biography:
Private Rueben Hoff was born in Linton, ND on October 1, 1922, and he was a resident of Kidder County, ND when he entered the US Army in Ft Snelling, Minnesota on February 11, 1944. He was killed in action on September 15, 1944, in France. He is buried in Plot 38, Addition, Grave 3, Tappen Cemetery, Tappen, ND.
