McKenzie County Veteran Service officer Jerry Samuelson organized funeral honors and placed veteran medallions on the headstones of three World War Veterans who died 100 years ago while serving at the University of North Dakota Student Army Training Corps.

FARGO, N.D. — The Cass County Veterans Service Office honored a private from World War I on the 100th anniversary of the end of the war.

Private Floyd Fuller was inducted into service in Fargo in September of 1918. He passed a month later.

He was part of the Student Army Training Corps at UND and was one of the victims of the influenza pandemic in Grand Forks.

The Army National Guard led a procession to the gravesite at the memorial.

One hundred years-ago in October, 26,000 American soldiers died on the battlefields of France in one of the final battles of WWI. Hundreds of them were from North Dakota. During the coming month, events will take place to commemorate sacrifices the young soldiers from North Dakota and across the country made in defense of freedom and liberty.
